Roy Kalfopoulou, The new face of hospitality
Roy Kalfopoulou talks about the philosophy of the Rocabella Hotel Resort and Spa, which creates for their guests “a home away from home”.
• What is the philosophy behind the Rocabella Hotels Resorts and Spa?
Our main goal is to create “a home away from home” concept. Our guests are individually treated according to their personal needs. This is feasible because we are a boutique hotel, so this offers us the luxury to really understand what each of our guest needs in order to have an ideal holiday in Greece. Great attention is given to guests’ comment cards after their departure, because their feedback is valuable to us in order to evolve and ameliorate our facilities according to guests’ suggestions. We are operating all year round and each season, we have different surprises for our guests. During the summer season we offer a complementary glass of champagne and massage upon arrival to relax from their long journey.
• Which novelties and exclusive amenities will you be offering to your clientele this year?
Rocabella Hotels welcomes you refreshed with a completely different concept. The menus of our Restaurants are curated by the talented chef Gikas Xenakis, owner of the “Aleria” restaurant in the center of Athens. Our menus are based on creative Greek cuisine, thus our guests have the chance to taste Greek recipes by a top notch Chef, along with an extensive Greek wine list. We have just created the menu for our new brunch, served to our clientele but also to hotel visitors. Also, we are really happy with our pet friendly policy that has been really praised by guests. Pets are welcomed with a water bowl and home made biscuits. The guest is given upon arrival a complete list of pet information accompanied by a list of pet activities organized in cooperation with dog trainer Giorgis Mpelias. Our delicatessen has been enriched with a wider variety of Greek products from all over Greece and in this way the guest gets the opportunity to take a piece of Greece back to their country. This year our Spa, apart from massages, facials and body treatments, offers manicure (simple, shellac, tips) as well as, pedicure, maquillage and hairdressing services. Last but not least, we created a lounge area by the pool where the guest can watch different movies every other night along with fresh popcorn (Mykonos Hotel).
• What makes you proud and motivates you to carry on?
I am really happy when I see the hotel guests having their dream vacation. Many of them are coming to congratulate me on the hotel and it’s services. At the moment that guests realize our genuine efforts and commitment to make their vacation special, this makes me proud because this shows that we really succeed in our purpose, and it is worthwhile. I would to thank my team, which really goes out of their way, stay a lot longer than normal working hours, to make the guest vacation flawless, always with the broadest smile on their face. This had a great feedback on the hotel, which as a result, placed both Rocabella hotels, in a very high ranking at TripAdvisor and we even won certificates of excellence the last consecutive years. Our buffet breakfast has won a certificate by the Greek Hotels Association for its Greek concept.
I would like to thank my hardworking brother George, who made our hotels so amazing and my dad who gave me and my brother the opportunity to have this great career in the field of Tourism and my mum for being so supportive at all times.
• In your opinion what makes Greek Tourism an important brand?
Well, it is as simple as this: clear and clean sea, sunny days, beautiful nature, hospitable people, unique culinary experiences, lively nightlife…Who can ask for more ?
